Tanya Maifat
Tanya Maifat (b. 1985, Cherepovets, Russia) is a multidisciplinary artist working with drawing, sculpture, and collage. Without formal art education, she has built her practice independently through keen observation, deep study, and material experimentation. Her work centers on ordinary forms — vegetables, household objects, architectural fragments — rendered with gravity, scale, and a sculptural sense of presence.
Her series A Closer Look reframes familiar subjects as ambiguous, monumental entities, revealing their posture, weight, and inner logic. She draws primarily in graphite, colored pencil, and oil pastel, allowing shifts, edits, and hesitations to remain visible in the final image.
Maifat’s work is shaped by a neurodivergent sensitivity to structure, silence, and overlooked detail. Her first solo exhibition took place in 2022 in her hometown of Cherepovets, Russia, where she lives and works.
