A Closer Look: The Beginning

This is where the series began. These four works mark the starting point of an ongoing body of graphite and mixed media drawings exploring the stillness, weight, and quiet strangeness of ordinary organic forms. Each piece isolates a vegetable or root as a subject of presence, endered with attention, ambiguity, and structural empathy.
The works balance monumentality and discomfort, holding tension between realism and restrained surrealism. This is not about symbolism — it’s about noticing what already lives inside form.
